Illegible Essay“Where is this love? I can’t see it, I can’t feel it, I can’t touch it. I can hear it, I can hear some words. But I can’t do anything with your easy words. Whatever you say, it’s too late now.”
- Closer (2004)

Closer is a movie focused on two couples entangled in infidelity. For this project, done under the mentorship of Abraham Burickson, I decided to concentrate on disection of the concept of love and betrayal in this movie through the means of one dialogue said by Natalie Portman towards the end of the movie.

Using this dialogue as a foundation, I explored the intricate dynamics of betrayal, connecting the movie's narrative to my own personal experiences. The culmination of this project was a mini accordion book (2’x2’), where all the text, apart from the actual movie dialogue, is intentionally illegible. This design choice was made to convey the raw vulnerability of sharing my story, mirroring the fragmented and often obscured nature of emotional pain.
